In the villages of the Park valleys, it is not unusual to find decorative and artistic elements that are testimony to folk religion. On the facades of the old houses there are fresco paintings, probably ex-voto from the 19th century. Other interesting expressions of folk art are the votive alters, particularly in Soana Valley, scattered along the main walking itineraries, even at high
altitudes: the highest can be found at 2000 metres, next to the Santuario di San Besso.
The best example of religious architecture can be found in the Santuario di Prascondù, Ribordone.
The building, which dates back to 1620, is contemporary to similar structures grown along the alpine arc: the sacred hills.
