From Campiglia Soana, parish and municipality in the past, you climb along the dirt track leading to the Azaria plain. Before reaching it, take a well indicated deviation on the right for the sanctuary of Saint Bessus. The cult of Saint Bessus is one of the oldest in the Alps and still today unites community of mountain and plain: on the 10th of August every year, inhabitants of Cogne and Val Soana meet for worship at the bottom of the cliff where the sanctuary grows. The sanctuary is located along the ancient road that links the Cogne Valley and the Canavese.

Next to Villa Poma, on the right orographic side of the lake in Ceresole Reale, a wide path starts, after around ten minutes it splits into two lines, running from one side towards the Passo della Crocetta, from the other towards Dres lake and the Leonesi alpine huts. Passed the main stream, the route is within one of the most interesting coniferous forests of the Park, both for the richness of wood represented (larch, spruce, white fir, pine), both for the grandeur of some specimens. The route continues in a picturesque expanse of pastures in front of Eastern Levanna and finally it arrives

Then you continue on the path that it's not particularly difficult and gives the opportunity to have a really panoramic view on the whole valley.

After a series of hairpin bends and uphil in the forest, you arrive finally in the alpine meadow, gratified by a lovely view on the peaks of the Park, thus reaching the Chabod hut. The features are many, but the scenic and alpine aspect are definitely prevailing.

The wood to cross and the basin pasture around the former Royal household have remarkable nature spots, but only the mule-track and the royal house are the strength of the first part of this route, steeped in history and strongly linked to the tradition of royal hunts of King Vittorio Emanule II.
